Kalkan

The most graceful town on the Lycian coast

Kalkan is a small harbour town in the Kaş district of Antalya, between Fethiye and Kaş. Whitewashed stone houses step down the hillside to the harbour, and the lanes are covered in bougainvillea. Turquoise coves, rooftop restaurants and dozens of ancient cities within an hour make it one of the Mediterranean’s most special places to stay.

“Kalkan is the place where the stars appear closest to the earth.”— Words attributed to Herodotus at the Kalkan Sky Festival (source unverified)
