Getting here and practical tips

Kalkan is small but steep. A few tips make the holiday flow.

Plan

Plan your trip

Kalkan is easiest to reach from Dalaman Airport, about 1 h 20 min on the D400 coast road after Fethiye. Antalya Airport also works, but the coast road takes 3.5–4 hours. In town everything is walkable; the steep stone lanes call for comfortable shoes.

A rental car makes villages, ancient sites and far beaches easy, and regular minibuses run towards Kaş, Patara and Fethiye. Below you’ll find transport and seasonal information; pharmacies, hospitals and emergency numbers have their own Health & Emergency page.

Getting around

Kalkan bus station (otogar) is at the north end of town, just off the D400. Intercity buses and the Kaş–Patara minibuses (dolmuş) leave from here; the dolmuş also stops in the centre in front of Migros Jet.

From Dalaman Airport to Kalkan

  1. Option 1Private transfer or taxi

About 125 km, 1.5–2 hours. Private car about £70 for 1–3 people, about £100 for 3–6 (2025). Shared shuttle about £10 per person.

  2. Option 2Hire a car at the airport

Follow the D400 coast road after Fethiye. Parking in central Kalkan is limited.

  3. Option 3Havaş / Muttaş + bus

Havaş (+90 850 222 04 87) and Muttaş (444 48 01) meet arriving flights and reach Fethiye bus station in about 1 hour (300 TL). From there, 18 buses a day run to Kalkan in about 1 h 25 min.

Dolmuş (minibus)

Minibuses to Kaş (via Kaputaş) run frequently all day; the ride takes about 25–30 minutes. The northbound line runs from Kalkan otogar to Akbel, Yeşilköy, Gelemiş/Patara and Kınık. There is no regular dolmuş to İslamlar or Bezirgan; take a taxi.

Kalkan’s official dolmuş timetable is published online only as an image and changes by season; confirm exact times at the stop or the bus station (+90 242 844 24 66).
