Nature & VillagesWhere mountains meet the sea
Behind Kalkan the Akdağ mountains rise to nearly 3,000 metres, and cool plateaus are half an hour from the coast. The slopes are covered with Turkish pine, olive groves and carob trees. Plateau villages such as Bezirgan keep wooden serender granaries; İslamlar has water mills and trout pools.
The Lycian Way from Fethiye to Antalya passes through Kalkan, with day sections you can walk from town. About an hour north, Saklıkent Canyon and its icy water are the coolest place in the region in summer. For water sports, diving, paragliding and safaris, contact the businesses below directly.
